This summer we are trying something new by sharing our favourite hidden gems & some of the lesser known (but totally "worth the stop") places right here in our own backyard! This series holds a very special place in my heart, so I'm stoked to share it with you all 😎
Canada is Home.🍁 It has everything you could ever want - and sometimes, you just have to hit the road to find it.
When I was 8 years old, my mom packed up my siblings and me for a road trip (4 kids in a car for hours at a time, brave to say the least) that would change the way I saw this country forever. 🚗 We grew up in Winnipeg, so we started by heading east - driving all the way to Toronto, stopping in every small town along the way (there's a lot!!!).
I remember looking for the Sleeping Giant in Thunder Bay, seeing Kakabeka Falls, taking photos with the giant goose in Wawa, and visiting the Big Nickel in Sudbury. We even mined for amethyst with our bare hands! That trip sparked a deep love for exploring Canada’s and its hidden treasures.🗺️
A few years later, when I was 11, we set off again—but this time, we drove west. From Winnipeg to Victoria, with stops that felt straight out of a storybook.📖 We toured the tunnels once used by Al Capone in Moose Jaw, walked on the ancient icefields near Jasper, and stood at the Last Spike in Golden.
But the moment I’ll never forget? Leaving Calgary and driving straight into the mountains for the first time. The scale. The beauty. I’d never felt so small, or so inspired. 🏔️
I love this country. I’m proud to call it home. And I want to help you discover the lesser-known corners of Canada - the true hidden gems - so you can create lasting memories with your friends, your family, or even on your own.
