Sons vs Sun
Ever been on a father-son trip? Or maybe a mother-daughter adventure?
You pick a cool destination, line up some activities, and throw in a few contingency plans just in case the weather decides not to cooperate.
You hope for the best, but prepare for everything.
I just went on a little father-son trip with my dad and brother to Kelowna, BC.
Lately, it's been raining everywhere, and the forecast looked, well, uncertain. So, I packed the full range of spring jackets: the Portage Windbreaker, the Rupert Rainjacket, and the Classic Softshell.
We golfed, we rode bikes, and we drank wine.
I wish I could say that only one jacket was needed, but this is Canada. Even in June, the weather doesn’t always play nice.
We teed off in the rain, started our bike ride on a cold morning, and dinner at the winery needed a bit of wind protection thanks to a cool breeze off the lake.
But this story isn’t about the weather. It's about the fun we had.Â
Like when my brother landed a shot within a foot of an ace on the course, or when my dad, at kilometer 30, realized he was riding an e-bike, not a regular bike—what a trooper!
Remember, the weather can be part of the story, but it doesn’t need to be the whole story!
Have a great week,
Jason
