Explore Canada Series: Part 24 - Newfoundland & Labrador
Newfoundland & Labrador – Part 24: August 6, 2026
Some places take a little more effort to get to. Newfoundland & Labrador is one of them and it’s always worth it.
There’s something about being out here that feels different right away. Maybe it’s the coastline, maybe it’s the pace, maybe it’s the people, but whatever it is, it sticks with you.
You don’t rush through Newfoundland. You follow the road, see where it takes you, and stop more than you planned to. One viewpoint turns into three. One small town turns into an afternoon.
And the air - if you’ve been, you know. That salty, ocean air that makes everything feel a little more fresh.
If You Go
- Gros Morne (but take the quieter trails) - Skip the busiest stops and head a little farther, you’ll find your own version of it.
- Green Gardens Trail - A hike that gives you cliffs, coastline, and space to take it all in.
- Twillingate - Icebergs (if you time it right) and some of the best coastal views around.
- Any outport you pass through - Slow down, stop, and walk around, you’ll get a feel for the place quickly.
Good to Know
Weather can change quickly along the coast - fog rolls in fast and the wind picks up without much warning. Layers are key here.
Driving takes longer than it looks on a map. Give yourself more time than you think you need.
Happy exploring!
